Data Privacy day: A reminder to safeguard your data

This Sunday (Jan. 28) is Data Privacy Day, which marks the 1981 signing of Europe’s Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection. But, more important, it’s a reminder of the importance of protecting your personal data. That’s becoming an increasingly bigger deal as the number and size of computer hacks continue to grow.
Make better passwords. While you’re getting your passwords in shape, make sure you have multifactor authentication, or two-factor authentication (2FA), enabled. Basically, this requires you to enter a second form of identification—such as a code texted to your phone—before allowing access to your account.
